Gov. Yusuf Signs over N719 billion Appropriation Bill into Law for 2025 Fiscal Year
Pledges accelerated infrastructural growth, social empowerment and poverty alleviation in 2025In line with standard appropriation plan, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has assented into law the budgetary allocation for 2025 fiscal year in the sum of N719, 755,417, 663.Of the total budget size, the sum of N262, 670,660,562.68 representing 36 per cent dedicated to recurrent expenditure while the cumulative sum of N457, 804,757,100.32 which stands at 64 per cent would be spent on capital expenditure.Signing the 2025 appropriation bill on Tuesday at the government House, Governor Yusuf declared that his administration is committed to full implementation of the new fiscal document.In a statement by Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, Governor renewed pledged to stimulate economic growth, quality education, functional healthcare development among other top priority in the 2025 budget.Tagged budget of Hope, Human Capital and Economic Development, the Governor Yusuf explained plan to dedicate substantial allocation to social welfare and poverty alleviation through series of empowerment initiatives in the year 2025.” Let me assured the good people of Kano of our commitment to improving lives of our citizens through investment generation, infrastructural development, poverty alleviation programmes. The 2025 budget is dedicated to stimulate economic growth.” Our government is also committed to deliver quality healthcare services, agricultural growth and social welfare. Jibrin Ismail Falgore while submitting the passed bill for assent, notified the upward increase in the budget size after public hearing.The speaker therefore called for full implementation of the budget as allocated to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state.Recall that Gov. Yusuf, on 8th November 2024 presented a proposed budget size of N549, 160,417,663.00 before the state assembly for passage. Kano State Governor presents N350bn 2024 Budget to State Assembly
The Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, on Friday, presented the 2024 Appropriation Bill of N350 billion to the state House of Assembly, with a promise to block possible leakages to ensure prudence, accountability, and transparency.
The governor who described the proposed budget as a Budget of Restoration and Transformation said it is a product of full cooperation and dedication to change the narrative in the state.
Yusuf noted that the total recurrent expenditure stood at N357.9 billion, while internally expected revenue stood at N100.7 billion, adding that capital receipt expected is N39.265 billion, higher by N4.9 billion in 2023 representing 12.53 percent decrease
He explained that the opening balance N10 billion, revenue recurrent expenditure N134.4 billion representing 38 percent while salaries would gulf N85.739 billion for civil servants and political office holders plus allowances and overhead and other expenditures stood at N78.4 Billion.

Governor Ganduje Presents the Proposed 2023 Budget of N245 Billion to the State Assembly
Governor Ganduje while presenting the proposal tagged “Budget of Consolidation and Prosperity II” on Friday in Kano, said it was aimed at consolidating and improving the well-being of the people of the state.
The budget consisted of N144 billion for capital expenditure, representing 59 per cent and N100 billion for recurrent expenditure, representing 41 per cent.
“The health sector was allocated N39.1 billion; water resources N15 billion; transport sector N8.6 billion; agriculture sector N19.9 billion while works and infrastructure got N35 billion,” he said.
The governor said that the education sector got the lion’s share of the budget with N62 billion, representing 27 percent, more than the UNESCO and UN recommendation.
He said that the money would be channeled into executing policies and programmes aimed at ensuring quality education at all levels.
Governor Ganduje said that part of the money would also be used to enhance the state’s free and compulsory education programme.
He urged the lawmakers to ensure speedy passage of the budget, to enable the government to continue to provide dividends of democracy to the people.
The governor also urged youths to shun all forms of violence, especially as the 2023 general elections got nearer.
The Speaker, Hamisu Chidari, assured the governor of speedy passage of the budget to create time for the January to December budget circle.
He urged government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to be ready for the budget defence at the House.
The speaker also commended the governor for his stride in infrastructure development, security, health and the education sector.
